Madden 20’s new Career Campaign mode, Face of the Franchise: QB 1, will let you play on one of 10 Division I teams in the College Football Playoffs.
College football is back! Well, sort of. One of the new modes in Madden 20 this year is “Face of the Franchise: QB 1,” a new Career Campaign (similar to 2K’s MyCareer) in which you create a quarterback and take him through all the steps of becoming a professional football player — including playing a snippet of his college career.
Upon creating the player, you’ll be able to choose between ten Division 1 schools to attend. The list of available schools to choose from are:
- Florida Gators
- Oregon Ducks
- Oklahoma Sooners
- LSU Tigers
- USC Trojans
- Texas Longhorns
- Clemson Tigers
- Miami Hurricanes
- Florida State Seminoles
- Texas Tech Red Raiders
Once you pick your school, you’ll be thrown into the College Football Playoff where you’ll play two full games. Your performance in these games will impact your draft stock. Once you complete the CFP segment, you’ll start the process of the NFL Combine and then proceed to the NFL.
Okay, so while it’s not quite the NCAA Football game fans have been clamoring for, at least it’s something. The fact that EA even has 10 licensed schools is a step up from where we’ve been these last few years. It’s just unfortunate that UCF is not part of the 10.
College football fans haven’t been able to enjoy a game based on the sport since NCAA Football 14 thanks, in part, to a lawsuit regarding the use of player likeness. Ultimately, it was just too much of a hassle for EA to have to deal with, but fans have longed for EA to return to college football.
Perhaps the inclusion of these 10 teams in Madden 20 is a sign that EA is perhaps working towards an official NCAA Football game. We can hope, right?
Madden 20 is set to release on August 2 this year.
